On February 21, 2024, LEJILEX sued the Securities and Exchange Commission in federal district court. We are challenging the SEC’s illegal power grab over virtually all digital asset transactions. We cannot deploy the Legit.Exchange, our ready-to-launch digital asset trading platform, without the regulatory clarity that the SEC refuses to provide.

But our lawsuit isn’t just about us. It’s about the future of crypto in America.

LEJILEX took this important step to show the entire crypto industry that we can punch back against the politicians stifling this technology and ruining our livelihoods.

Since then, four more lawsuits were filed by industry actors big and small.

Momentum is building. The law is on our side. If we keep fighting, we will win.

But to get there, we need your help.

Lawsuits aren’t cheap. Because we cannot launch the Legit.Exchange until the lawsuit is over, we are turning to you for help.

That’s what this Legit Legal Defense Donation Drive is all about.

We need $300,000 to cover legal expenses to take this all the way to the Supreme Court.

Why does this matter?

To date, the SEC’s regulation-by-enforcement campaign has successfully settled dozens of lawsuits with projects that might have continued to fight back if it weren’t for their sky-high legal bills. That’s part of the plan, of course: lawyers for one project that had the gall to fight back, LBRY, said that the SEC threatened to “make this very expensive for you” and hoped that “LBRY might exhaust its resources in defending itself.”

In a case against Debt Box, the SEC lied in court to illegally secure a restraining order, freezing their funds and ruining their business. There, the SEC was smacked down by the judge, fined over $1.8 million, forced the lawyers on the case to resign, and ultimately shuttered the regional office responsible for that case. Nevertheless, the damage was done.

We can’t launch our business in such an environment, not without a court order clarifying the SEC’s jurisdiction. It’s too risky. That’s why we’re taking this fight proactively to the SEC.

To win, we need to make sure we are well-funded for anything that comes our way: from a prolonged district court battle to an extended appeals process all the way to the Supreme Court.
